Chinese New Year 2017 is fast approaching! To usher in the year of the Rooster, Sarkies Corner at Eastern & Oriental Hotel Penang is having their Steamboat Buffet dinner once again after a successful run the previous year.

The steamboat buffet dinner features a choice of broth – Chicken, Tomyam or Herbal

A pleathora of fresh seafood is available to usher in prosperity and abundance such as prawns, sea cucumber, fish maw, flower crab, red snapper, mussels, white pomfret, salmon fillet and baby squid.

Other items for the steamboat include fish ball, Teochew Fish dumpling, crab claw, stuffed red chilli with fish paste, stuffed egg plant with fish paste, stuffed bitter gourd withi fish paste, deep fried wanton, bean curd skin, bean curd, ‘sui kaw’ dumpling, top shell, sea asparagus, chicken fillet, sliced beef, sliced lamb and duck, various mushrooms and more. Yellow noodles, bee hoon, glass noodle and udon noodles plus eggs also are available.

Variety of vegetables plus 3 dipping sauces – Homemade special chilli sauce, Coriander Oyster garlic sauce & White radish spicy sauce

All 3 sauces have their own unique taste, my favourite being the coriander oyster garlic sauce and the white radish spicy sauce coming in a close second.

Once you’ve had your fill of steamboat, an array of desserts are available to whet your appetite including glutinous rice ball soup, mango pudding, egg tarts, chinese tea chiffon cake, semolina almond cake, assorted pastries and festive cookies.
